Germaben II is a versatile, liquid preservative system with a broad spectrum. Its active ingredients are dissolved in propylene glycol making it a great cosmetic additive for easy integration into various personal care products. It’s ideal for use in emulsions with an oil phase of approximately 25% or less and in water-soluble products.
To maintain its effectiveness, Germaben II should be added at temperatures of 140°F (60°C) or lower, typically during the cooling phase of production, and before introducing fragrance. Adding it at temperatures higher than 140°F (60°C) may reduce the effectiveness of the preservative. Germaben II works well with a wide range of cosmetic ingredients and is effective across a pH range from 3.0 to 7.5.
